Presenting Results

The results section of your thesis should contain only the results. Interpretation of the results belongs in the discussion section.
Present the key results only. Ensure they are linked to the objective of the study.
Quantitative data
  • The first table describes the sample used (demographic details, other relevant categories)
  • Use tables and graphs to present the results.
  • Clearly define the numerators and denominators
  • Show the confidence intervals and the p values
 
Qualitative data
  • Do not include quantitative values (such as xx% sample said “xxx”.
  • Clearly present the themes and sub themes that emerged and how they related to the objective of the study and the theoretical framework if used.
  • Explain each theme and link it with the objective(s).
  • Provide one or two quotes for the main themes.
  • For each quote provide details of the respondent such as ‘mother, 20-30 age group, urban district’ or ‘health care provider, public health facility, rural district’
 
Systematic review
  • Show the PRISM flow chart to indicate the selection process for inclusion of articles
  • Present the themes and sub themes
  • Describe  each key finding in the text
