Mary Hadley PhD

Mary has lived and worked in Africa and Bangladesh over the past 40 years. Her experiences moving from African village life to the metropolis of Dhaka and back to Africa provided a foundation for her work. Again, experiences as a front line health worker and supervisor in health programmes such as Expanded Programme for Immunization, Essential Medicines and disease control allowed a smooth transition to a broader focus on health systems and policies, as embedded adviser in Ministries of Health. Along the way evidence became increasingly essential in her work. Analysis of routine and survey data, primary and secondary qualitative research that culminated in a PhD in Health Policy. Mary’s key interest is to be instrumental in the move away from the one-size-fits-all approach to a paradigm in which local context is taken into account in the design, implementation and evaluation of all health interventions and policies.
