Writing the proposal
- Introduction
- Gives a short description of relevant background
- Introduce the problem
- Explains briefly what is already known and identifies the gaps
- Clearly sets out what you want to do, why and how
- Introduce the theoretical framework you will be using to frame the research
- Background/Problem Statement
- Elaborate on the problem statement, existing knowledge and gaps
- Provide a robust rationale and aim of the research including end users
- Provide as much background information as needed to allow the reader to be in a position to understand your results and conclusions for example

- Terms and topic area
- Theoretical Framework
- Identify a framework from literature or
- Design your own framework (adapted from existing or your own)
- Methods (the reader should be able to replicate the study and get the same results as you)
- Describe the type of study in one sentence
- Explain in detail the approaches you are going to use
